K&D’s history runs from Thoroughbred racehorse barns in Texas and New Mexico to continued testing and refinement at the family-owned F-Bar Ranch in Gainesville, Texas.
The Beginning Was a Broken-Gear Problem
Racehorses are not hard on equipment because they are “dumb” or mean. They are powerful athletes—quick, curious, reactive and more than capable of finding a weak rim, handle, mounting point or tool at the worst possible moment.
Ken Fomby understood horses and he understood tooling. When ordinary barn gear failed, he began building better molds and better answers. That practical response became K&D Equestrian in 1983.

Why Buckets Became the Flagship
A bucket looks simple until a horse gets involved. Then its body, perimeter, handle, hardware, placement and temperature performance become one system. The KD-120 Platinum flat-back bucket is K&D’s clearest expression of that lesson: purposeful reinforcement at the places real barns test first.
