Care, repair & responsible use

Buy for the Job. Care for It. Repair What You Can.

A practical approach to longer equipment use starts with the right tool, routine inspection and compatible replacement parts.

Start with choices you can act on

Choose the right tool once

Match capacity, mounting, handle length and storage space before ordering. A tool that fits the chore is more useful than an extra tool that stays in the corner.

Keep serviceable parts working

When a fork head is damaged but the handle is sound, a compatible replacement head may let you repair the tool instead of replacing the whole assembly.

Find replacement parts

Clean, inspect and store

Remove feed residue, check attachment points and dry equipment before storage. Retire structural damage rather than covering it with an improvised repair.

Durability deserves specific evidence

Construction details and repair options are useful reasons to choose equipment. They are not a measured environmental footprint. K&D does not use this guide to promise that every product is chemical-free, recyclable everywhere or better for the environment in every respect.

For a specific product, review its materials and features, the available parts, and any written coverage.

When equipment reaches the end of its useful life

Remove unsafe gear from animal areas. Ask your local waste or recycling service what it accepts; material, mixed hardware and local rules affect disposal. Do not assume that all barn plastic belongs in curbside recycling.
