From Cowboy Grit to Equestrian Elegance
By Kenneth Fomby, President, K&D Equestrian
You ever get told your stuff just ain’t fancy enough? Well, we did — and the truth stung like a green horse on a cold morning.
Back in the 1990s, we packed up our Texas grit, loaded up the truck with our best ranch-tough gear, and headed north to the AQHA Congress. We figured folks up there would appreciate good, solid gear built by horsemen for horsemen.
Say what now?
At the time, our name was K&D Ranch Products, and everything we made was tried, tested, and trail-proven on our F-Bar Ranch in Gainesville, Texas. So yeah, it was "cowboy stuff." But let me tell you — cowboy stuff doesn’t break, doesn’t quit, and doesn’t need replacing every few months. Sounds like something every equestrian could use, doesn’t it?
Same Backbone. New Branding.
K&D Equestrian was born. We kept the same durability, same function-first design, and same no-nonsense approach. But now? We speak fluent “equestrian” — with product lines that look as good as they perform.
Today, our buckets are still ranch-tough, but they’re also arena-ready. Our grooming accessories are Texas-tested but elegant enough for the show barn. And our customers? Well, they’re not just cowboys anymore. They’re riders, trainers, weekend warriors, and professionals from coast to coast.
So yeah, we heard them loud and clear. We are for equestrians. We just happen to build our stuff like cowboys do — strong, reliable, and ready for anything.
Thanks for riding with us all these years. You ain’t seen nothing yet.
