Match the tool to the bedding

  • Shavings and loose bedding: lift the soiled material and use controlled sifting. A manageable load helps avoid throwing clean bedding away.
  • Pellet bedding: consider how the bedding breaks down and falls through the tines. Try a small working section before settling on a routine.
  • Long straw: a sifting fork may not handle bulky, tangled loads like a dedicated straw tool. Choose for the material you actually move.
  • Trailer touch-ups: check doorways, dividers, head clearance and where the tool will be secured for travel.

Measure before buying

Measure the storage opening and usable length. Handle length alone does not determine whether the assembled tool fits. When clearance is tight, send K&D the model and your available length, width and depth for confirmation.

Is the KD-135 shorter than the KD-115?

Both use a listed 54-inch handle option. The KD-135 belongs to the compact head family. Choose KD-139 or KD-140 when the shorter listed handle length better suits the user or space.

Can children use the KD-140 unsupervised?

No. Match the chore and load to the child, supervise use and keep helpers clear of moving horses and other equipment.
