Injection molding
Molten material is injected into a closed mold. The process is widely used for solid molded parts and complex details.
Blow molding
A heated plastic form is expanded against a mold to create a hollow part. The process is widely used for containers and hollow shapes.
Why the Old “Injection Good, Blow Bad” Story Is Too Simple
Either process can produce a well-engineered product or a poor one. Performance depends on more than the label:
- Resin selection and formulation
- Wall thickness and consistency
- Part geometry and corner design
- Ribs, rims, rings and other reinforcement
- Handle and hardware attachment
- Process control and inspection
- Temperature, impact, load and intended use
What to Ask Instead
- What material and wall design does this exact model use?
- How is the rim or load path reinforced?
- How does the handle attach, and are sharp crimps exposed?
- Can I see test demonstrations for this product?
- What does the written warranty cover and exclude?
