Horse Feed Scoop Measurements: Quarts, Cups & Weight

Quarts and cups describe volume. Pounds describe weight. A volume conversion does not tell you what a scoop of a particular feed weighs.

US volume reference

US quarts US cups US gallons
1 4 ¼
2 8 ½
3 12 ¾
4 16 1

This is a unit-conversion table, not a claim that K&D sells every size listed. Compare the KD-166 1-quart and KD-119 2-quart products for current scoop options.

Why there is no universal pounds-per-scoop chart

The amount by weight depends on the feed and how it fills the container. One quart should not be treated as one pound, and a measurement taken for one feed should not be carried over automatically to another.

Turn the volume into a useful routine

Follow the step-by-step calibration guide to tare a container, weigh a repeatable fill and record the result. Recheck if the feed, scoop or fill method changes.

Keep serving instructions separate from capacity

A scoop’s capacity is not a feeding recommendation. Use the amount in the feeding plan and follow the product’s directions. Supplement and medication measures should follow their own labels or prescribed instructions.

For buying guidance, compare scoop sizes. For a shared feeding routine, use the feed-room handoff checklist.
