Why K&D’s Flat-Back Horse Bucket Uses a Contoured Back

“Flat back” describes the wall-facing job. K&D adds a contour so the same surface is more comfortable against the body when the bucket is carried.

Flat Enough for the Wall, Shaped for the Chore

A perfectly flat panel can suit a wall and still feel awkward against a hip or leg. K&D’s contoured back keeps the stall-oriented purpose while recognizing that the bucket also has to be lifted, carried, emptied and scrubbed.

What the Shape Can Help With

  • Sitting closer to a stall or trailer wall than a typical round bucket
  • Reducing unnecessary swing when mounted correctly
  • Creating a more body-aware carrying surface
  • Supporting a practical feed-and-water routine in wall-side locations
Shape is not a safety guarantee. A contoured flat back cannot stop every horse from flipping, kicking, pawing or pulling a bucket. Hardware, hanging height, placement, fill level and the individual horse still matter.

KD-120E or KD-120?

KD-120E Silver

18-quart everyday option for lighter handling and value-first barn setups.

KD-120 Platinum

20-quart hard-use option with a one-piece perimeter ring, Mane & Tail Saver, strength demonstrations and the Platinum Promise.

Why This Is a Racehorse-Barn Design Question

K&D started around Thoroughbred barns, where equipment moves between wall use and human handling all day. A bucket that fits the stall but fights the person carrying it has solved only half the job.

Good design serves both sides of the chore: the horse-side placement and the human-side handling.

Inspect the Full Setup

  • Use suitable hanging hardware and a sound mounting surface
  • Keep sharp, protruding and loose parts away from horse contact
  • Check the rim, handle, mount and wall regularly
  • Adjust placement to the individual horse and stall
  • Replace damaged equipment promptly
